James W. (Jim) Perry
PERRY, JAMES W. (JIM) Died 3-15-08 after a two-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Jim was born in Carrollton, Texas on August 9, 1931 to Henry W. and Edna Perry. James is a seventh generation Perry and is descended from A.W. Perry who settled Carrollton in 1844. His parents and his brother, Henry D. Perry, predecease him. He is survived by his wife, Sammie Perry, son Joe W. Perry and wife, Sherry, Mother-in-law, Georgia Davis. He is also survived by sisters Pattie Jones, Mary Thompson, and Martha Williams; brothers, Jack Perry, Ed Perry, and Earl Perry. Many loving friends and family survive him. James served in the military during the Korean War and in 1955 began working for the Dodge Division of Chrysler Corporation. After leaving Chrysler in 1977, he worked in the retail automobile business in Dallas. When Jim retired from selling cars, he began a job he loved very much-he became a job coach for handicapped students at Marcus High School in Flower Mound. James loved his church and served churches in Beaumont, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, Gainesville,Texas and was currently a member of Webb Chapel UMC in Farmers Branch. He has served as lay leader at Webb Chapel for several years and was proud to represent the church at annual conference for several years. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8pm at Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral services will be 1:00, Tuesday March 18, at Webb Chapel United Methodist Church on Valley View Lane in Farmers Branch. Burial will follow in the Perry Cemetery on Perry road in Carrollton.
