Band Members enjoyed Leon Breeden and the Official Texas Jazz Orchestra at the Duck Inn--Pictures by Ron Kukal

This was an e-mail sent to me by Ron about the night at Duck Inn:

Below is a link to pictures someone else took when Leon
Breeden was playing with the band.

This is the North Texas website...

It was an unbelievable evening. The band was the best I think I have
ever heard...great jazz. The Duck Inn was jammed
to the rafters with people...glad there was no
fire...I think 27 people from NHBD.....not a bad
showing..the food was great and the music even better. I wish
you could have been there, Mary.

Mr. Breeden is essentially the guy that started the
music program at North Texas in the late 50's...and
the One O'Clock Lab Band. A great man.

Ron, Thank you for the information and the great pictures. I wish that I could have gone. I am glad that everyone had a good time. I had a very nice time visiting my daughter from South Carolina. Mary.

Walt's Statistics-- 2006/2007 Performances

Mary,
I had an email from a member concerning the stats I quoted at the business meeting last Friday. This member thought they were impressive and suggested that they be published on the blog.

Here they are if you want to include them on the website.

UPSWING Concert at Richardson National Night Out

Vicki Sims sent in these pictures that Debbie Conard sent for our Blog Site. Debbie took these pictures at the last UPSWING concert in Richardson. It was National Night Out. UPSWING played at the Senior Center there.

Debbie is in the Richardson Police Academy and this is what she had to say about the concert. "My uncles raised me on this type of music the band plays and I just love listening to your sound."

Debbie, thank you for sharing your pictures with us. We are glad that you enjoyed our UPSWING's music.

Bitsy Laney is showing off the new Xylophone and Glockenspiel that the band recently purchased.

Both the xylophone and the glockenspiel were in need of refurbishing. The band wants to thank Joe Staser and Jim Howard for doing an excellent job.

The xylophone needed a new resonators case, so Joe made one. Now the instrument looks like a fine piece of furniture. (Thanks again Joe and Jim.)

Not only are the two new instruments beautiful on the outside but when Bitsy plays them they make beautiful music.
